Are veterans who were assigned to Cuba guarding suspected terrorist prisoners eligible for two free years of health care when they’re discharged from active duty?
No, the veteran must have served in a designated theater of combat operations. Cuba has not been designated as such. You may refer to VHA Directive 2004-017, Establishing Combat Veteran Eligibility, for the list of areas that have been designated as theaters of combat operations
